Silver Wings Golden Games Summary: The Deep Dive
Spoiler Warning: This section reveals major plot events, including the ending.
Sabine Darrow is kept in Sorsha Hall as a “winged lady” under Rian Valvere’s control. She possesses godkissed magic that lets her speak with animals. To win her freedom from their betrothal, she agrees to tame a captured monoceros, a creature said to obey only gods.
While Sabine works with the beast, the huntsman Wolf interrogates a Volkish raider named Maks. Maks reveals that Sabine is the biological daughter of King Rachillon of Volkany. Wolf burns the proof to protect her.
Sabine eventually learns the truth from her legal father, Charlin Darrow, who tries to extort Rian. Wolf and Rian travel north to the Blackened Forest. They find a hidden tunnel and a Volkish army training goldenclaws.
During the Midtane festival, Sabine and Wolf are caught on a sacred altar. Rian throws Wolf into the Everlast, a gladiator trial where prisoners fight to the death. Sabine’s magic is blocked by a collar placed by Lord Berolt.
In the arena, Sabine calls on nature’s simplest voice—a spider’s song—to help Wolf survive. The fight is interrupted by a starleon attack. The beasts drop plague dust over the city, and raiders invade.
Sabine calls the monoceros, Tòrr, into the arena. Tòrr incinerates the raiders and helps save the city. Afterward, Sabine, Rian, and Wolf learn Lord Berolt plans to seize the throne and claim Sabine.
The three conspire to kill Berolt. They use Tòrr to run him through in the training stables. At Berolt’s funeral, Lady Eleonora reveals that Wolf is the true Valvere heir, switched at birth to protect him from Berolt.
Wolf abdicates his claim to Rian in exchange for Sabine’s freedom. Sabine and Wolf finally seem free, but the goddess Immortal Iyre appears. Iyre opens a portal to Volkany, erases Wolf’s memory of Sabine, and drags her through.
