Seventeen-year-old twins Ellery and Ezra Corcoran arrive in Echo Ridge, Vermont, to live with their grandmother. Their mother, Sadie, is in rehab. The town looks perfect but has a dark past.
Their aunt Sarah disappeared in 1996. Five years ago, homecoming queen Lacey Kilduff was strangled. The town still suspects Declan Kelly, Malcolm’s older brother, but he was never convicted.
Right away, the twins discover the body of teacher Jason Bowman on the road. He was killed in a hit-and-run. That same week, someone spray-paints “Murderland: The Sequel” on a local sign.
Ellery, a true-crime fan, starts asking questions. She is unexpectedly voted onto the homecoming court. This puts her directly in the crosshairs of a new stalker.
Malcolm Kelly works at the local Halloween theme park, Fright Farm. He is treated like an outsider because of his brother’s reputation. Ellery befriends him anyway.
