The story opens on the island of Korina after Elessia’s resurrection.
Sophia St. Germain sets the scene in a war-torn world divided between humans in Ellow,
Fae in Vastala, and a looming Oakgards’ armada. Lessia wakes with nosebleeds, exhaustion, and a new ability to hear the dead.
The joint council meeting in a soot-stained ballroom erupts into hostility. A Fae noble challenges Lessia’s right to speak. She renounces her claim to the Rantzier throne and demands an end to cyclical hatred.
Her eyes glow gold and she summons hundreds of dead souls to separate the fighting factions.
