To impress investors, he paid a data science professor $15,000 to manufacture synthetic users, inflating 25,000 real members into a reported 200,000. When partnership talks with the Sage Clinic trigger due diligence, that fiction starts to look like federal fraud.
The Reunion
A week before Christmas, Talia caught Townsend in bed with 24-year-old influencer Amanda Reade and ended their six-month relationship. Townsend dated Amanda next, then ended it in early March.
In mid-May, he and Talia meet again at a Town Lake kayaking outing and watch the bats emerge from Congress Avenue Bridge. They agree to try again, and Talia moves into his 48th-floor downtown condo.

Secrets on Both Sides
Confronting Kaitlyn outside his parents’ gated community, Townsend reveals that Amanda once confessed to driving drunk and hitting a curb, damaging the family car’s frame and steering. Two weeks later, that same car crashed and killed Kaitlyn and Amanda’s parents.
Kaitlyn verifies the accident report and realizes her sister hid her role in their parents’ deaths. She mentions the SIG Sauer P320 in her car trunk — a gun that soon disappears.
The Frame-Up
Cuff’s security audit exposes Meera’s database access, and COO Betty Jeong fires her, cutting off the insurance she needs for her Hashimoto’s disease.
