Set in De Beauvoir, North London, *Nine Lives* follows Frankie Green as she rebuilds her life after a divorce. The neighborhood is pristine, but its residents hide dark secrets, including a past murder-suicide in Frankie’s own house.

Frankie’s cat, Blue, returns home one day with a frantic plea cut into his collar. Unsure if it is a prank, she fits Blue with a pet camera. The footage initially shows her neighbors’ private moments, including a heated argument.

Frankie soon experiences a sleepwalking episode that triggers her security alarm. The responding police are skeptical of her and warn her that filming neighbors is illegal.

She visits a local GP, Dr. Simon Williams, who prescribes her sleeping pills.

Ignoring the legal warning, Frankie watches new footage from Blue’s camera. She is horrified to see a bruised young woman trapped in a basement cell. The captive, Anna Derwent, holds up notes naming “Simon Hughes” as her captor.

Frankie tries to report this, but the police refuse to watch the illegally obtained footage. She tracks Blue’s location using an AirTag, which leads her to a nearby address. She breaks in to gather evidence but is knocked unconscious by Dr. Simon Williams.

Catherine Steadman reveals that Dr. Williams is actually Simon Hughes, a serial killer. He drugs Frankie and stages her death as a suicidal overdose in her bathtub. He leaves the window open, and Blue climbs in.

The cat’s camera live-streams Frankie’s drowning to the police. A neighbor, Pam Howden, sees suspicious activity on her doorbell camera and uses a spare key to enter. Pam pulls Frankie from the water and performs CPR.

Meanwhile, Simon goes to kill Anna. Anna fights back with an iron umbrella stand, injuring him severely. The police arrive, rescue Anna, and arrest Simon.

He is later sentenced to three consecutive life sentences for his crimes.

The story concludes with Frankie recovering.

She builds a new life, gets engaged to a local architect, and her ex-husband blocks her on social media after seeing her happy life.
