Poison Summary: The Full Story

Warning: This section contains major spoilers for the plot, including the ending.

Sorcha Gannon, born Sorcha Mullen, arrives at St. Bartholomew’s to reinvent herself.

Her first day begins with a hostile encounter with a massive, tattooed man. She later learns he is Ciar MacMahon, the leader of the Cerberus Order.

A student named Annastasia O’Shea tells her about the Gauntlet, a brutal underground fight. Sorcha enters the crypt that night and is met by Axl Rhodes, another member of the Order.

Inside the arena, she witnesses the fights that define life at the college. The Order is composed of Ciar MacMahon, the brute leader; Cillian Sullivan, the silent enforcer; and Axl Rhodes, the strategic planner.

When they leave to haze a student named Sean O’Malley, Sorcha follows and intervenes. She slashes Cillian’s neck with a blade to stop the assault. Ciar responds by carving her name into his own arm.

He gives her a choice: submit to them or fight. She chooses to fight.

Cillian refuses to fight her, claiming it would not be a contest. He selects another opponent, whom Sorcha defeats. After the fight, Cillian finds her by the lake.

Their confrontation becomes aggressive sex. He then washes her and puts her to bed, a moment of tenderness that conflicts with his violent nature.

The next day, Cillian has sex with her in a courtyard. Ciar then demands she break her new deal with Annastasia and come to Axl’s townhouse.

Sorcha plans a long-term coup against the Order while pretending to submit.

At the townhouse, Ciar announces she will fight Sean O’Malley to the death. Axl provides her with intelligence on O’Malley’s weak knee. In the crypt, Sorcha uses this information to kill him, shattering his knee and slashing his throat.

Immediately after the kill, Sorcha flees the crypt and is knocked unconscious.

The Order finds her missing and discovers a police raid occurred at the crypt, but the timing suggests the attack on Sorcha was a separate event. Cillian tracks a van and finds her inside, unconscious and injured. Ciar carries her out and decides to keep her at Axl’s townhouse for safety.

At the townhouse, Axl uses his medical knowledge to treat her wounds and then brings her to orgasm, marking her. Cillian explains that a kiss from him is a permanent brand.

Ciar carves his name into her spine with a knife. They begin to escort her to her lectures, maintaining constant surveillance.

The threat escalates. A sniper shoots at Cillian, and later, a second shot is fired into Axl’s study. Cillian’s father reveals that Sorcha’s identity as Oisin Gannon’s daughter has made her a target for old enemies.

Cian Gannon, Sorcha’s half-brother, confirms he was the one who knocked her unconscious to protect her from the police. He warns the Order to keep her safe.

Sorcha’s defenses begin to fall. Cillian cares for her when her period begins, buying supplies and preparing a hot water bottle. Ciar stays with her when she asks. Their relationship becomes a mix of brutal control and genuine care. Axl provides her with a designer wardrobe.

A man named Liam Murphy approaches her in the library. Cillian knocks him unconscious, but Liam escapes. Liam later reveals his true identity as Liam Ahearne, a member of the brutal Ahearne crime family.

He was placed in her life in England. He tells her that families are coming for her because she is the only unaffiliated Gannon female, making her valuable as a vessel for a new legacy.

The Order decides to officially make Sorcha the fourth member of the Cerberus Order, marking her as claimed and protected. Cillian and Sorcha share their first real kiss.

The book by Eve Newton ends with the group in the townhouse kitchen.

The window shatters, an explosion rocks the room, and Sorcha is dragged away by unknown figures, leaving her fate hanging in the balance.
