One year before the main timeline, Jasmina Ruiz attends a high-society gala with Tomás Abarca, the son of a business ally. When Tomás turns physically aggressive in an alley outside the venue, Callahan Knight steps in and drives him off.
Jasmina leaves the gala with Callahan. They move through a rooftop glass conservatory, descend a rusted fire escape, and spend a night together in a luxury suite.
The next morning Jasmina slips out without explanation and ignores his messages for a year.
That year, the Ruiz syndicate deteriorates under the reckless leadership of Jasmina’s uncle, Paolo Ruiz. When Paolo threatens the young daughter of Jameson Knight, Callahan’s brother, Jameson executes him.
Believing the Knight family destroyed her legacy, Jasmina enters the construction site of the Knight Heights Spire in Hudson Yards. She ignites the pressurized gas main and burns the billion-dollar tower to the ground.
The Diamond Syndicate board meets to manage the fallout. To secure board control of Fuerte Firearms Corporation, the Ruiz family’s legitimate front, and to block the Irish mobster Fitzpatrick, Callahan’s mother and Jasmina’s uncle Monte arrange a marriage between Callahan and Monte’s daughter, Maribel.
Callahan tracks Jasmina to Midnight’s Edge, a cliff above the Atlantic, and tells her about the planned marriage. Jasmina refuses to let her gentle cousin be pulled into the mob world.
She stabs Callahan in the back and takes them both off the cliff into the ocean. After an underwater struggle, Callahan drags a hypothermic, unconscious Jasmina to shore. Unable to escape, she demands that he marry her instead of Maribel.
Her family agrees to the wedding contract. That same night, three masked men break into the house while Jasmina audits Paolo’s accounts, beat her, and stab her three times in the abdomen while looting the safe.
To protect the contract and avoid appearing weak, Jasmina refuses a hospital and hires a discreet veterinarian to suture her abdomen in secret. Before losing consciousness, she removes an encrypted SD card hidden beneath her late father Sanchez’s desk.
She negotiates two months to heal and plan the wedding. Callahan collects her and her ginger cat, Romeo, and brings her to his estate in Paradise Grove.
At a police precinct, detective Demi, a former casual lover of Callahan’s, provides files on Paolo. Jasmina discovers that Paolo ran a human trafficking network and that the money laundering systems she built had processed those funds. She commits to using Fuerte Firearms’ resources to compensate and rescue the victims.
Tension rises at the estate when Demi tries to seduce Callahan. Jasmina holds a knife to her throat. Callahan dismisses Demi and admits he could not become aroused for her because he is fixated on Jasmina.
The two set rules of mutual exclusivity, and Jasmina carves “Jas” into his abdominal tattoos. When Fitzpatrick arrives at the Paradise Grove gates demanding port control, Jasmina pins a blade to his throat while Callahan shoots one of his operatives in the leg.
In the Paradise Grove library, Jasmina examines the SD card and searches a logo she saw in old trafficking footage. She recalls a lullaby her father sang before his murder about a twinkle in her eyes and hidden treasure. The card holds an encrypted trust for his direct heir.
Callahan takes Jasmina to New York to meet a trafficking survivor, then proposes in a bridal shop with a 10-carat blue princess-cut diamond ring. They marry at his estate among crystals and blue delphiniums.
They board his yacht, Viper’s Lair, for their honeymoon. Jasmina discovers she is pregnant. Monte and Fitzpatrick ambush the yacht.
Monte admits he planned the break-in at Paolo’s house, left the doors unlocked, and hired the men who stabbed her to force her compliance. He also reveals that Paolo murdered Jasmina’s parents twenty years earlier when Sanchez tried to end the trafficking network.
Jasmina and Callahan overpower Monte, and Callahan executes him for his betrayals.
Back home, Jasmina unlocks the SD card with her father’s lullaby code and redirects the trust fund toward compensating and rehabilitating the female trafficking victims.
Five months later, a pregnant Jasmina, twenty weeks along, lives at the estate with Callahan, Romeo, and her family as Mrs. Knight.
