Lift Me Up Summary (Spoilers Ahead)
Spoiler warning: the following section covers the plot, including the ending.
Tam Remington is appointed interim Managing Director of YorkMart after her boss Martin Middlewood quits abruptly. She spends months fixing the company’s accounts and operations without public credit.
The board then hires Jack Cesaroni, a celebrated turnaround specialist, as permanent MD. Tam is demoted to his assistant and assumes her dismissal is imminent.
Outside work, Tam is engaged to Harris Bullivant. His family and hers pressure her to flatten her personality, from her curly hair to her bright lipstick.
On a Monday morning, Tam and Jack enter the Crown Tower elevator together. It jams between floors thirteen and fourteen, and they are stuck for an hour.
Tam uses the time to explain her operational fixes, her frustration with underperforming executives, and her personal sense of being invisible. Jack listens, mentions his divorce from a competitive violinist, and tells her she is exceptional.
After rescuers free them, Jack addresses the board. He fires Richard Idle and Frances Belk, restores the Operations department, and promotes overlooked staff.

He raises Tam’s position and pay, and introduces the new Head of PR: Anna Anderson, Tam’s long-lost university friend.
Reunited with Anna and backed by Jack’s respect, Tam begins reversing years of self-suppression. She chooses a boho lace wedding dress, paints her walls red, and returns to her Ruby Woo lipstick.
On her wedding eve, her brother Jame’s girlfriend Meredith reveals she is leaving him after being inspired by Tam’s example.
At the altar, Harris berates Tam for her dress, her natural curls, and her lipstick. Tam hands her bouquet to Meredith and walks out of the church.
Six months later, YorkMart ranks fourth in the supermarket sector. Tam and Jack are briefly trapped in the same elevator again.
Jack tells her he wants her to succeed him as Managing Director. The two kiss, and he asks her out.
