Tempting Boss Summary: A Steamy Billionaire Boss Romance
Introduction
A travel coordinator interrupts a billionaire mid-sentence, hangs up his call, and saves a hundred-million-dollar deal in under an hour.
That is how Deena Brand meets Callum Frost in Tempting Boss, the eighth book in Lilian Monroe’s Manhattan Billionaires series.
She runs her own struggling business and refuses to answer to anyone. He runs Frost Venture Capital and refuses to let anything slip out of his hands.
Their clash moves from boardroom standoffs to late-night phone calls, a fake boyfriend performance at a Southern country club, and a contract neither of them can treat as purely professional.
What follows is a workplace romance built on two stubborn people, one accidental email, and a pregnancy that forces both to confront what control actually costs them.

Tempting Boss Summary (Spoilers Ahead)
Spoiler warning: the following section covers the full plot, including the ending.
Deena Brand runs an independent corporate travel coordination business from a cramped New York studio apartment. She built it to escape a repressive upbringing in Charlotte, North Carolina, and to pay down student loans and credit card debt.
Her reputation for last-minute fixes brings her into Frost Venture Capital, where CEO Callum Frost is berating staff over a failed flight booking. Associate Jack Reed needs to reach Mexico City from Bangkok to close a hundred-million-dollar deal.
Deena takes the phone, ends Callum’s call without asking, and charters a private route through Singapore and Los Angeles. The deal is saved. Callum is furious at losing control of the room and equally transfixed by her.
Weeks later he calls her late at night for a Tokyo flight, and the conversation turns into charged verbal sparring. In February he offers her a full-time executive assistant role with a blank-check salary, and she refuses outright.
Her answer is blunt: she works for no one but herself.
In March, Deena is on a bad date with a self-absorbed podcaster when Callum calls again. She leaves the date to talk. He mentions that his sister Erica is fighting breast cancer, and the call shifts into raw flirtation that ends in an intimate phone encounter.
Panicked by how easily he gets past her defenses, Deena blocks his number the next morning.
She then travels to Charlotte for her parents’ thirty-fifth wedding anniversary at a country club. Her mother Maryanne criticizes her appearance and pushes her toward her high-school ex, Austin.
Overwhelmed, Deena unblocks Callum and sends a snarky text. Maryanne grabs the phone, speaks to him, and assumes he is Deena’s billionaire boyfriend.
Callum arrives at the party in a tailored tuxedo and plays the devoted partner convincingly. He deflects the local gossips and rescues Deena from Austin, then corners her in the club’s billiard room, where an argument turns physical.
Afterward, Deena tries to restore professional boundaries. She agrees to a non-exclusive six-month contract as his travel director for three hundred thousand dollars, half paid upfront and non-refundable, on the condition that they never touch again.
At Frost Venture Capital, she overhauls company travel procedures and asserts her own authority. Callum buys her a high-end laptop as a sign-on gift after hers keeps crashing.
When Erica and her five-year-old daughter Lila visit the office, Callum pulls his MBA diploma off the wall to frame Lila’s crayon drawing. The gesture shifts how Deena reads him.
He also orders gourmet lunches delivered to her desk daily. One evening, while trying to message her best friend Alba, Deena accidentally sends a company-wide email reading, “I have a crush on my boss.”
She prepares to resign. Instead, Callum locks her office door and confesses that he is in love with her mind, heart, and soul. They give in to their feelings there.
That night at his Tribeca penthouse, Callum tells her the source of his need for control. At six years old, he was supervising his four-year-old sister Gracie when she drowned in a neighbor’s pool, and his mother blamed him.
Deena stays. They disclose the relationship to HR, and she moves into his penthouse.
In late June, a routine doctor visit for birth control reveals she is pregnant, conceived during the March anniversary weekend. She delays telling him while he is on a multi-city European trip.
On his return he gives her a Schiaparelli dress and takes her to dinner, where she tells him. He is overjoyed, but his protectiveness soon becomes suffocating.
He polices her diet, mandates workouts, and demands she stop working. Deena resists, feeling her independence and professional identity being erased.
The break comes when she lands a major contract with a medical device company. Callum finds her working late, closes her laptop, tells her to shut the business down, and dismisses her career by pointing out he earns a hundred times her salary.
The next morning, Deena quietly packs and returns to her studio apartment. Callum is devastated and yells outside her building, smashing his fist into the brick wall.
During the separation, Callum enters therapy for his control issues, and Erica’s cancer goes into full remission. Erica confronts him with the idea that love requires respecting Deena’s autonomy.
Deena reconnects with her brother Brooks and rebuilds a healthier relationship with her family on her own terms.
At thirty-four weeks pregnant, a routine checkup reveals severe, rapid-onset pre-eclampsia, requiring emergency labor induction. In the middle of contractions, Deena recognizes that her fight for independence had hardened into its own kind of isolation.
She calls Callum, and he rushes to the hospital. He stays beside her without issuing orders to the staff. She tells him she loves him and states that she is keeping her business, and he agrees without argument.
She gives birth to their son, Luke. Nearly seven years later, Callum and Deena are married, Deena runs the premier corporate travel agency in Manhattan with Callum as an investor, and they have three children: Luke, Gracie, and baby Bella.
