Vicious Obsession Summary

Spoiler warning: This section covers the plot, including the ending.

Amara Parker works as the personal assistant to Ransome Rozanov at Apex Energy. She supports her younger siblings Eliza, Gianni, and Bella while managing debts left by her abusive, gambling-addicted father.

To manage the stress, Amara develops a private obsession with Ransome. She memorizes his daily schedule, tracks his location through an Apex burner phone, and steals one of his white Armani shirts from his office closet.

One evening, after dropping off his dry cleaning, Amara finds his penthouse office unlocked. She photographs pages from a locked notebook filled with maps and operational details.

She leaves two traces behind: a lipstick-smudged glass and a gold phoenix hairclip scented with her Gucci perfume, Sweet Seduction. Ransome later finds both.

Meanwhile, Ransome faces pressure from his father Anton, the reigning pakhan, and from rival pakhan Dmitry Chadovich. The two families arrange a truce marriage between Ransome and Dmitry’s daughter, Jenica.

Ransome refuses to be controlled. He needs six months, until his thirtieth birthday, when he inherits the authority to veto the truce.

When Amara follows his tracker to a nightclub where he meets Jenica, Ransome turns the trap around. He takes her to a basement warehouse, ties her wrists, and interrogates her.

Amara insists her stalking was personal infatuation, not mob espionage. Ransome believes her and sees an opportunity.

He brings Amara to his penthouse and presents a contract. She must pose as his exclusive girlfriend in public to convince both families his heart is taken. In return, he doubles her salary and guarantees her family’s financial security.

The arrangement quickly becomes possessive. Ransome escorts Amara to lounges and galas, kissing her in front of paparazzi to sell the story.

At a Bratva masquerade gala, Tristan Chadovich corners Amara and threatens her. A fight erupts in the alley, leaving Ransome with bloodied knuckles.

Ransome then brings Amara deeper into his operations. He shows her a hidden loading dock and a cross-country cocaine pipeline tied to El Paso, demanding her total loyalty.

Behind her back, Ransome clears her debts, has her father arrested through a police contact, and buys a new home for her siblings.

Tristan works to destroy him. He manipulates seventeen-year-old Gianni into installing a GPS tracker under Amara’s car hood, posing as car-racing talk.

Using the tracker, Tristan enters Ransome’s penthouse while Amara is alone. He taunts her, implies responsibility for the death of Ransome’s brother Nik, and secretly records her on video.

During a family seafood lunch at Firebay, a drive-by shooting shatters the windows. Ransome sends Amara to the penthouse with guard Ivan while he hunts Tristan.

Tristan then kidnaps Gianni to force a confrontation. Amara takes a burner phone and tracks Ransome’s location, rushing to an abandoned warehouse.

A shootout follows. Ransome dives to shield Amara, and his best friend Maverick is shot and critically wounded.

In the aftermath, Ransome confronts Amara with edited footage Tristan sent: clips of her speaking softly to Tristan, plus photos of her with other men.

Grieving Maverick and haunted by his brother’s death, Ransome refuses to hear her explanation. He orders her to take her siblings, change her name, and leave New York permanently.

Amara drives out of the city with Gianni and the others. As she holds her stomach, she reveals she recently tested positive on a pregnancy test and is carrying Ransome’s child.

She vows to protect her baby and never let them suffer. The novel ends with her disappearance, continuing in Vicious Innocence.

Quotes from The Book

“I know you’ve been watching me. Now, I’m going to find out why…”

“First rule of thumb when you’re stalking a very dangerous man, Amara? Don’t. And the second rule is, if you are stupid enough to break rule number one, don’t be sloppy about it.”

“If I were anyone else, any other man, and you crashed my date like that, I’d slap you.”

“You know everything about me and you’re already doing my laundry. I’d say it’s a natural fit.”

“Danger might be part of the job, but the bigger part of my jobs is protecting people from it.”

“You doused all of us in gasoline and lit the fucking match. Are you happy now? Did you get what you wanted?”

“I won’t let anything happen to you, I silently say as my thumb rubs over my belly. I promise, I won’t be like my mom. I’ll be there for you. Even if your dad won’t be.”
