Voice of the Ocean Summary: The Full Story

Princess Celeste, youngest daughter of Queen Halia and King Tidus of Staria, surfaces in the Southern Ocean against siren law. She watches a black human ship, The Sun, carrying Prince Raiden Sharp and his quartermaster Bastian.
Celeste saves a newborn sea turtle from a shark using her Song, but the magic lingers far longer than it should. Back in Staria, King Tidus announces that Raiden’s ship has entered Starian waters, and the Chorus prepares a night raid to drown every human aboard.
During the attack, the Chorus hypnotizes the crew into leaping overboard. When Raiden dives in to save Bastian, Celeste attacks General Xandra, knocks Bastian unconscious so he stops thrashing, and pulls the survivors toward Port Velluno. Her uncontrolled scream later knocks out the pursuing Chorus, and she leaves the humans on a beach before they wake.
Celeste surrenders and is imprisoned. Queen Halia tells her that King Leonidas murdered her grandmother, Queen Isla, cycles ago. To redeem herself, Celeste agrees to seek out the Sea Witch in the Wasting Waters.
In a glowing cave, Nerissa transforms Celeste’s tail into human legs and seals her gills, leaving her voice intact. The price is an unnamed future favor, marked by a crescent moon brand on Celeste’s wrist.
Deposited near Port Romsey, Celeste is arrested for walking naked and unable to speak the human tongue. In jail she meets sailor Ito Kiyami, and Raiden and Bastian arrive looking for crew.
Raiden recognizes Celeste as his rescuer but believes she is a mute “Wayfinder.” He hires Kiyami as captain and Celeste as navigator, and at the Broken Compass pub they add gunner Torben Helvig and cook-surgeon Nasir.
The group boards Raiden’s stolen ship, The Red Revenge, once belonging to the Pirate Queen Valencia. Celeste navigates by her knowledge of ocean currents while Raiden explains they are hunting a hidden island of immense treasure.
Celeste initially plots to kill Raiden to secure a pardon in Staria, but she bonds with the crew instead. She learns to read and write from Nasir, befriends Kiyami, and develops feelings for Raiden.
On the fourth day at sea, the ship attacks a cargo vessel for supplies. Captain Clarke shoots Raiden, who falls bleeding into the water and draws a giant shark. Celeste dives in, stabs the shark through the roof of its mouth, and hauls Raiden to safety.
At Port Velluno during a summer festival, Raiden buys Celeste an orange and holds her hand before Valencia ambushes them. Torben detonates a cliffside gunpowder explosion, and the crew rescues Celeste and escapes.
Back at sea, Raiden admits their destination is Lunapesce, a sacred island that appears only during a solar eclipse. Celeste draws the secret Lunastri Current on the map to carry them past Staria.
The current nearly destroys the ship. When Nasir is swept overboard, Raiden dives in after him and Celeste helps haul them back. That night she and Raiden kiss, and she confesses her love and reveals she is a siren.
The next morning Celeste finds her best friend Maeve bound in the brig. Raiden admits he knew she was a siren all along and captured Maeve as insurance, using her navigation to reach Lunapesce.
Celeste punches Raiden, throws Maeve into the ocean, and dives overboard. Stranded, she sings her grandmother’s ancient song, and a Hippokamp carries her across the waves as she triggers the island’s emergence.
At the white stone temple, Celeste finds Gala and her long-lost sister Sephone performing a ritual. Sephone explains that the Voice of the Ocean is a divine power passed to a chosen siren, not a treasure.
Nerissa appears, having bargained with King Leonidas to deliver the Voice to him. Raiden and his crew enter the temple alongside Leonidas’s enforcers, and a battle begins.
Celeste pulls a glowing golden trident from a statue of the Goddess, marking her as a true descendant. Gala dies completing the transfer of the Voice to Sephone, and Nerissa activates the crescent moon curse, paralyzing Celeste.
The Siren Chorus arrives singing a Song of War that drives the pirate crew toward the water. At Celeste’s plea, Maeve breaks the spell for Kiyami, Nasir, Torben, and Bastian.
King Leonidas arrives holding Sephone captive. Coerced, Sephone uses the Voice to heat and raise the ocean, flooding the island and coastal towns.
Leonidas’s cannons kill several Chorus members, including Analora and General Xandra. Sephone unleashes a tidal wave that destroys The Red Revenge and sinks Lunapesce beneath the waves.
Celeste nearly drowns as a human but wakes on floating wreckage with Raiden, the Admiral, Kiyami, Nasir, Torben, and Bastian. Maeve and the surviving Chorus surface with rowboats and report that the waters have cooled and Queen Halia has been warned.
A merchant ship rescues the crew and brings them to Port Velluno, now half-submerged. King Leonidas has escaped with Sephone and the divine power.
Celeste decides to stay with Raiden and the crew to hunt down King Leonidas, rescue her sister, and stop the Pirate King.
