Night Witch Summary: A Dark Academia Romantasy by Jaymin Eve
Introduction
Paisley Hallistar thought her biggest problem was surviving another year at Weatherstone College.
That changes when a forbidden power surfaces, one the magical world tried to erase decades ago.
Jaymin Eve continues the Weatherstone College series with a sequel that raises the stakes for Paisley, her family, and everyone she loves.
This book is for readers who enjoy paranormal romance with dark academia settings, protective heroes, and heroines discovering hidden strength.
TL;DR: A Forbidden Power and a Deadly Curse
Paisley learns she is a night witch, a reaper who can summon creatures from Purgatory.
That power got a student killed and put her in the High Council’s crosshairs. Her family hides it while her father faces trial.
Logan Kingston reveals an ancient mate bond between them. His father places a curse on Paisley that drains her life and threatens her entire family. Breaking it requires fifteen rare ingredients and a counter-curse that costs Rafael Kingston his life.
The real battle starts when the High Council attacks Paisley at school. She dies, meets the spirits of past reapers, and returns with the power to command Purgatory demons instead of fearing them.
The story ends with her fully claiming her role as a guardian between realms.

Paisley Hallistar returns to Weatherstone College after a disastrous freshman year. On All Hallows’ Eve, she accidentally summoned monsters from Purgatory. One of those creatures killed Gerard Donovan, a fellow student.
Her mother, Beth Hallistar, gives her a daily potion to suppress the reaper magic. The recipe comes from letters left by Paisley’s grandmother, who was also a secret reaper.
Paisley pretends to be a weak spellcaster while her father, Professor Tom Hallistar, faces a High Council trial.
Tom is accused of negligence involving witch wine and a campus fire. Paisley and her friend Sara travel to New York for the trial. Logan Kingston secretly intervenes, keeping key witnesses away and getting the charges dismissed.
Logan invites the group to a rock concert. Paisley discovers that Logan, Noah, and Tobias are Casters, a famous masked underground band. Logan sings a song called “Pact” directly to her on stage.
At his Michigan farmhouse, Logan explains their mate bond. They performed a blood-binding spell as children in a park. He spent years acting distant and traveling to grow strong enough to protect her from his father, Rafael Kingston.
Rafael is a corrupt billionaire warlock who hates the Hallistar family. He believes Beth killed his wife Isabel, who actually died because of a shadow monster Beth accidentally summoned. Rafael placed an ancient curse on Paisley.
The curse activates the first time Logan and Paisley sleep together. It drains her magical essence and life force toward the Kingston line. Once Paisley dies, it will kill her family members in reverse birth order. Because of the mate bond, it drains Logan too.
Jaymin Eve moves the plot through a search for fifteen rare ingredients needed to break the curse. Paisley’s siblings gather venom and other dangerous items. Paisley visits her grandmother’s crypt and receives the finger bone of her reaper ancestor.
The counter-curse happens at Rafael’s headquarters. Paisley realizes they need Logan’s light spellcaster blood, not Rafael’s dark blood. When Logan contributes, the curse unravels. The backlash kills Rafael Kingston and restores Paisley’s strength.
Back at Weatherstone, Elder Monroe forces his daughter Belle to spy on Paisley. A battalion of spellcasters ambushes Paisley and drags her to a public tribunal. They try to force her magic out, which thins the barrier between Earth and Purgatory.
Hundreds of demons flood the school. A fire warlock kills Paisley by slicing through her neck with burning metal. In death, Paisley meets the spirits of past reaper witches.
They explain that reapers are not evil. They are guardians who summon Purgatory demons to consume dark energy that bleeds through the planes. The Council’s genocide left the magical world vulnerable.
The spirits give Paisley their combined power. She returns to life, flies to Logan on air currents, and calms his destructive rage. She then commands the rampaging demons to devour the dark Purgatory energy covering the school walls.
Six months later, the High Council treats Paisley as a protected asset. Casters reveals their faces at a stadium concert. Logan and Paisley end the novel secure in their bond.
