The Silversmith Summary: A Deep Dive (Spoilers Ahead)
Spoiler Warning: The following summary contains major plot details and the book’s ending.
Aryella lives in a small cabin in Warrich, surviving on her own. Her foster father Phillip and little brother Oliver were murdered a year ago. Her foster mother Elowen abandoned her three months ago. All of this follows a fall that erased her memory.
She is found by her friend Gemma and a band of warriors, including the scarred Gavin Smyth.
They reveal she is the daughter of the sorcerer Simeon Whitlock and the prophesied queen. Ary is reluctant but leaves with them, burning her cabin to sever ties with her painful past.
As they travel, the formidable warrior Gavin trains Ary to fight. Their relationship deepens from distrust to an intense, romantic connection.
After an Insidion attack in the city of Tovick, Ary reveals her power by healing a dying child. She proves her leadership by splitting the group, sending her wounded friend Caz to the rebel stronghold while she and Gavin continue to Brinnea.
It is on the journey to Brinnea that Gavin confesses a terrible secret: Simeon was never there. He lied to give Ary more time before she was forced into a political marriage.
Before Ary can process this betrayal, a man arrives with a message from the enemy, Molochai, claiming he has Gavin’s long-lost wife and wants to trade her for Ary. To save Gavin from further pain, Ary secretly leaves to surrender herself to Molochai.
At his camp, the dark sorcerer reveals the truth. Gavin arrives to save her, but is forced to watch as Molochai exposes the past.
Gavin is Molochai’s son and the infamous immortal assassin known as the Butcher, bound by a blood oath to serve the dark sorcerer. He was the one compelled to murder Ary’s foster father and brother. Most shockingly, Ary is not Simeon’s daughter.
She is Queen Christabel’s daughter and the original wife Gavin has been searching for over four centuries. The prophecy was a lie, a construct by Simeon to turn Ary into a weapon.
Molochai stabs Ary, but her divine power of regeneration resurrects her. She wakes a week later in Gavin’s cabin to find he has gone.
He left a letter, explaining he must find a way to break the blood oath before he can return to her. He has also provided her with an umbra cub named Shera and the note she wrote four centuries ago: “It was Simeon. Do not follow me.”
The novel ends with Ary vowing to reclaim her true identity and not be a pawn. Elsewhere, Commander Elias Winterton receives a false report of the queen’s death and orders that her friend Gemma be brought in for interrogation.
